WISE Education & Outreach
WISE Kids at Chabot Space & Science Center

As part of NASA’s continued commitment to Education and Public Outreach (E/PO) the WISE mission conducts a program to inform and excite students, teachers, and the general public about the science of WISE. Over the course of the mission, WISE and its E/PO partners will develop physical science and mathematics lessons to be used in K-14 classrooms, teacher professional development experiences, museum exhibits and programs, kits for informal educators to use in public presentations, and multimedia with background science information on this website itself. WISE scientists and engineers are involved during all phases of the mission contributing to public lectures, teacher professional development events, and as science advisors on curriculum products and educational websites.

Our goals for the Education and Public Outreach program for WISE are to:

  • Enhance the quality of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education
  • Share the excitement of WISE space science discoveries with the public
  • Help create our 21st-century scientific and technical workforce

We plan to meet these goals in the following ways:

  • Teacher professional development programs
  • Curriculum support, teacher’s guides, and print resources
  • Student use of science data
  • Science center exhibits, visualizations
  • Amateur astronomer involvement
  • Educational websites
  • Public talks by scientists
